As a child, I was anxious a lot and had many questions about the world and how everything was put together. I regularly felt like a stranger here and simply could not grasp the grandeur of the world. I often felt trapped in myself and in the world.
I was always able to find an escape in theatre. As a child, I spent a lot of time at theatre school, dance school, piano lessons, you name it. This I have never let go of. I started studying this direction and eventually even managed to make it my profession.
Apart from all this great theatre work, every now and then the repressed fears kept coming back. All the therapies I attended helped a little, but very briefly and not at the core. The really deep vulnerable part in me never really felt seen and I could mainly carry on with willpower. Until the strain was gone.
In 2016, on the advice of a good friend, I got in touch with Integrative Breath Therapy. Incredibly, I very quickly discovered a part in me that does feel safe. A natural part, secure and safe. A part that doesn’t need immediate answers to questions. That just fell away. Even though these were short experiences, they were strong and real enough to know that I would continue on this path.
I took intensive individual breathing sessions and got to know myself better and better. Little by little, I felt more and more secure in myself and began to take back more and more responsibility over myself. In 2019, I started the 3-year training as a Breath Therapist at the Institute for Integrative Breath Therapy in Germany, led by Tilke Platteel-Deur and Hans Mensink. Besides breath work, in this training you also learn to work with various other awareness techniques such as: NLP, Voice Dialogue, Tapping/EFT and Inner Child Work. In 2022 I will have completed this wonderful training and with all my heart I want to connect people with the power of the connected breath.
