The honesty of the breath

The honesty of the breath

The connected breath.
It is the power of love
That can rise to the surface through a connected breath
It reminds us of who we really are.
Love.
That is where our answer always lies.

I am gripped by the clarity that lies in this. Seized by the clarity in my first breath session together with Kick at Tilke. A very special vulnerable moment because the question was: do we really fit together? The relationship between us, where I was the caregiver, was no longer working. Why not?
I closed my eyes and began to breathe connectedly.

Why do I care for others so excessively?

So that they become dependent on me

Why do I like that?

Because then I am loved

Aha.

Aha.

I am still so grateful for this moment, so bright. This is where I needed to be! It is still my motivation and confirmation of how honest breath work is. How incredibly helpful this method is to become aware of your traumas and say “yes” to this. It wasn’t long before the “method” became a “way of life”.

The beauty of Breathwork is that you carry the breath with you at all times. You are no longer dependent on anything outside you, a pill for peace, sugar for your energy etc. From the moment you can really use the breath, you always have access to a support. The most enduring support you can find: yourself, through connected breathing.
You can do this lying down, floating in water, standing, jumping etc. There is a suitable way for everyone and for different purposes.
What I am so grateful for is that we do it mostly sitting down. Just sitting on a chair, very simply. For me, there is something so wonderful in that, the simplicity, the minimalism. So simple and with so much potential for connection. We breathe with two feet on the ground, our buttocks on the chair and straight up. Exactly that last one touched me so much, “straight up” became “straight”. Honest.
It feels like truth to me that if we adopt this posture, letting our breath flow in through our nose, letting it flow right through our thoughts like a breath of fresh air, letting it carry at the top what we need and letting it fall through our spine to our pelvis with our exhale, and we can thereby find the answers we are looking for.

I connect my breath
I meditate
I ask questions
What do I need?
What is good for me?
I open my head, my fontanel
I drop my exhale
In my pelvis
The answer enters me as a thought

What is the power of a connected breath session?

The connected breath allows us to break free from identification.
Often we are confused, entangled in all kinds of parts of ourselves that we have built up or expanded throughout our lives. Entangled in our beliefs, thoughts and patterns that were all created from a very early stage to protect us. It feels to me that we are meant to de-evolve throughout our lives. Develop into who we really are, into a conscious “I” that knows all its parts.

Once we breathe consciously connected, we choose to come out of the identification we are currently in. By sitting upright, you give yourself the opportunity to find a middle. You balance on your sitting bones and lean from left to right, front to back. And somewhere you feel, you are in the middle. Then (or meanwhile) you consciously connect your inhale and exhale and make a very clean energetic vertical connection. Between heaven and earth. So we come from an unconsciously confused moment, into a new middle and see what is really going on. Honestly. From this new middle, you have the ability to consciously choose your path. With this, you take responsibility for your life and step out of the victimhood of dependency. From “I can’t help it” to “I have a choice”.
Any old fears that surface along the way feel life-threatening. With a consciously connected breath, we can face this more easily for real.

We make space with the breath.
We accept with the breath.
We carry with the breath.
We integrate with the breath.

I would advise anyone experiencing stress (anxiety) to go to breath therapy. All individual breathing sessions, as well as group sessions, give you the chance to learn so much about yourself. Become aware of patterns you have been stuck in all your life. You have wanted to get out of them for a long time, but you just can’t seem to get out of the circle. One breath session is enough to make you aware of different patterns, you can even experience relaxation in the same session. Relaxation you haven’t experienced for so long, or never experienced at all. Actually, that is the goal, relaxation.
